Turkey Curling will take place on November 17 from 6 to 9 pm at Glacier Ice Rink. For a $25 donation of either food (Frozen Turkey or non-perishables) or cash, you can participate in a short learn-to-curl session followed by a quick game of turkey curling. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and sneakers. All curling gear and turkeys will be provided!

New Leagues Announced

The Missoula Curling Club has announced two new leagues. The Fun League will be focused on families, youth, and those who can't play late on Saturday nights. The focus of this league will be learning and fun, more along the lines of a less competitive Spring league. The Doubles League will follow standard doubles rules and gameplay, but we will not require the teams to be mixed-gendered. There will be a meeting before the doubles league starts to discuss the differences from the standard play we are all accustomed to. Both leagues will allow for ten teams.

The six Sundays of gameplay will be the following:
    Nov 19, Dec 17,  Jan 28, Feb 11, Feb 25, Mar 3

Here is what the Sunday morning schedule will look like:
    8:30 - 9:00 - Set up
    9:00 - 10:30 - Fun League
    10:30 - 11:30 - Doubles League

Fun League cost will be:

  • $360 for a family (This includes the player's membership fees)
  • $120 for an individual not currently a member of the curling club (This includes your membership fee)
  • $75 for an individual already a member of the curling club.

Doubles League will cost $75 per player, and each player must be a club member.

The setup will be modified since each Sunday League will follow Saturday night league play. The Fun League will be responsile for this modified set up. For security, we will lock the rocks in the cabinet overnight. This means that stones will need to be transferred to the ice. For safety, we will rebeble Sunday morning. The hacks will already be in place. The Doubles League will be responsible for cleaning up.

Registration is open now. Please use the below link to register or visit our web page!

Olympic League Announced

Inside curling's Olympic venue, the Ice Cube, in Beijing, China. This winter, many of us will be glued to YouTube or the television watching some amazing curling in Beijing. We know that when the Olympics roll around interest in curling surges. Last Olympics, we had one earn to curl where some 250 people showed up to try the game. Well, this year we are ready to offer a bit more than just a short taste of curling. This year, we are offering a three-week Olympic minileague.

The league kind of begins with an Olympic day at Glacier Ice Rink on February 12. You will be able to try curling as well as skating and hockey. All are welcome to attend that event.

The mini-league kicks off in earnest the following Saturday, February 19. Up to 20 teams can participate in the league and they will play on the 19th, 26th and March 5th. Games will be at 8:30 p.m. and another will start at 10 p.m. and run for 90 minutes. We will have coaches on site to help teach curling as well as talk strategy. For those who are members of the club, the cost will be $30 for the three weeks. Those who are new, we need to include a social membership in the club which insures you while playing. For those folks, the cost is $55.

Everyone signs up as an individual, but let us know if you have a team of 4 or more you want to play with.

Club Announces Return to Curling Rules

We are beginning to plan for a return to curling that promotes safe play and social distancing. The Club has been working with USA Curling to develop plans to combat COVID that we have begun to outline on a new site.

In the coming weeks, we will be announcing playing options that offer flexibility and affordability -- two things we have heard from you are important this season -- for you all.

Headgear Options

As we kick off this brand-new season of curling some people have been asking about the curling safety gear that players, including myself, have been wearing. I have seen multiple players receive concussions from impacts with the ice. Speaking as someone who has had loved one have to deal with TBI, I can tell you that the brain is a delicate thing. Protect what you got!

Here are a few head gear options to check out. I know there are other options available, but I wanted to send links to safety gear that I have seen our membership wearing on the ice. I'm sure that I can speak for the other players out there, I would be more than happy to show you what I wear so you could check it out, first hand, some of these options.
